As part of his ministerial visitation this week, the idea was just to get a brief of the current work undertaken on the ground and to address pertinent issues relating to the operations of the Board.
Senior Estate Officer in Nausori Mr. Kameli Ritova ran through a short presentation highlighting the land development projects in the area which was well received by the team.
Hon. Vasu says that development on itaukei land is not bad but it needs to be done properly with all due process to be followed.
“It doesn’t matter if we delay our projects for a little while but it is important to consult the landowners,” he said.
For the farmers, he added, an access road is a must so that they can start planting otherwise there is no use issuing leases and expecting something good in return.
Hon. Vasu was accompanied by the Assistant Minister Hon. Isikeli Tuiwainunu and all the executive heads of the iTaukei Institutions were accorded a traditional welcome ceremony by the staff.
