Our dedicated staff members planted 300 mangrove plants at the Taiperia Settlement Foreshore in Lautoka this month, thanks to the Ministry of Forestry for their guidance and assiatnce.
Regional Manager North-West Mr Joseva Ratabua said they had planned to plant at Namoli Foreshore, but the Ministry suggested Taiperia as it has proven to be a great spot, with successful plantings by Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) and Airports Fiji Ltd (AFL).
This effort is part of our commitment to conduct one corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity per quarter for each region.
“Our team felt privileged to contribute to an activity that benefits the greater good,” he said.
“In the coming years, these mangroves will protect the residents of Taiperia Settlement from damaging winds, waves, and coastal flooding, reduce shoreline erosion, and help combat the effects of climate change,” he added.
The North-West Region consists of staff from Lautoka, Ba, and Rakiraki offices.
