EMPOWERING ISLAND ENTREPRENEURS: TLTB Delivers Game-Changing Support in Yasawa
November 5, 2025Yesterday marked a proud moment for the people of Tokatoka Vunatawa of Naboutini Village as they received a brand-new tractor—a major boost for their integrated farming project covering over 70 hectares, including 30 hectares under lease.
This milestone was made possible through a $30,000 Taukei Development Fund Facility (TDFF) loan from the iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) and $25,000 from their lease funds.
As Head of Tokatoka Vunatawa, Mr Jolame Qoro expressed heartfelt gratitude:
“We are very thankful for the assistance provided by TLTB. This will be very beneficial to the Tokatoka and especially to our youth in farming.”
Hon. Ifereimi Vasu, Minister for iTaukei Affairs and Chairman of the TLTB Board, officially handed over the tractor key, saying: “Mechanised farming is the way to go now. I’m glad to be here, thanks to the invitation from TLTB CEO Mr Solomone Nata.”
“This is also an opportunity to keep our youths away from unemployment, drugs and crime.”
Mr Qoro also shared the Tokatoka’s vision for the future: “We used to plant sugar cane, but faced many challenges. This tractor will help us diversify into root crops and vegetables, increasing productivity and commercial viability in the years to come.”
This is more than just a machine—it’s a symbol of progress, empowerment, and hope for the future of Tokatoka Vunatawa.
