December 16, 2023TLTB has started consultation with members of the Yavusa who have been allotted with the Schedule A land and those who have Reserved Schedule B land that were reverted by the Government.
TLTB has started consultation with members of the Yavusa who have been allotted with the Schedule A land and those who have Reserved Schedule B land that were reverted by the Government.
The process includes the TLTB team visiting the concerned landowners to hand-deliver information regarding the amendment of Register of iTaukei Land (RTL) or gazette for the Reserves they have been allotted.
The consultation was also a platform to create general awareness to the landowners and advise them on how best they could utilize lease monies that are made available with the allotted subject land(s).
So far, the team, consisting of General Manager Landowners – Mr Peni Qalo, Reserves Commissioner – Mr Mosese Ratubalavu and other staff within the division, have visited the landowners of Yavusa Nasogo of Nasoqo village, Yavusa Mataisau of Naitasiri & Tailevu and Yavusa Wacakena from Ra.
Yavusa Nasoqo was allotted 2907 acres, Yavusa Mataisau with approximately 354 acres and Yavusa Wacakena with 755 acres of land.
It was an emotional moment for all the 3 land owning units. Words could not even be uttered. If looks could express their feelings, it was certainly written all over their facial expressions.
Only Fijians of iTaukei decent would understand the feeling especially when they have made submissions since 2016. The smile says it all
Now the wait is over and they could now feel a sense of belonging. Sincere appreciation to the government for this initiative.
Team TLTB will visit other landowning units with the same issue to create the same awareness.
