PUBLIC NOTICE JOINT STATEMENT – TLTB, TTFB AND TOKATOKA SAWAIEKE MOU for Mixed – Use of Commercial Development in Lautoka
May 20, 2026On Friday, 22 May 2026, the iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) took its Senior Managers Meeting (SMM) deep into one of the most remote areas in the interior of Viti Levu at Matailobau Village in Naitasiri — bringing leadership closer to the landowners and their village life.
CEO Mr. Solomone Nata emphasized that the most important foundation for staff at this stage is discipline. From discipline comes improved attitude, growth, and high productivity — the very qualities that uplift our people and communities.
Following the SMM there was the usual Talanoa Session to explain and clarify policies and the new strategic direction taken by TLTB,
Mr. Nata outlined TLTB’s new business direction designed to maximize benefits for iTaukei landowners:
• TLTB Awareness – bringing knowledge directly to villages
• Taukei Wealth Fund – building long-term prosperity
• Taukei Development Fund Facility (TDFF) – providing capital for landowner ventures
• TLTB Education Scholarship – investing in future generations
• LOU Empowerment – strengthening landowner units to go in business of their own
By taking the SMM to the villages, TLTB is living out its founding purpose: to ensure the maximum benefit of iTaukei landowners. This new direction is not just about policies — it is about seeing firsthand how landowners are shaping their village life and walking alongside them in their journey of empowerment.
In the afternoon, the men and women villagers warmly farewelled the TLTB delegation and shown gratitude for its commitment to work with them in developing the Matailobau Cooperative, which will lead the construction of the first commercial centre in Vunidawa.
Mr Naqase expressed their gratitude by saying: “If you come to Naitasiri and have no place to sleep or eat, please come to Matailobau.” His words reflect the deep appreciation of the community for the support they are receiving from Mr Nata and TLTB as a whole.
TLTB with Taukei Trust Fund Board (TTFB) is assisting the Matailobau Cooperative Limited to develop its commercial lot an Vunidawa to a mixed-use shopping mall for a supermarket, bakery, restaurant barber shop, car wash and a service station. It is also assisting the women of Matailobau in catering facilities for their restaurant.
