VACANCY 35/2026 – Senior Legal Officer (Suva) - iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB)

The Senior Legal Officer is responsible for providing legal advice to all departments at TLTB, representing TLTB at all levels of Court with the Fiji Judiciary and working with various TLTB stakeholders in the fulfillment of its statutory functions and responsibilities.

Job description:	Key Outcomes: TLTB represented at all courts and before other tribunals in all legal matters involving TLTB Litigation and other disputes involving TLTB managed from inception to conclusion, including matter intake, collecting evidence, internal and external communication, pleading preparation and review, discovery management, witness briefing and preparation, conduct of trial/hearing, settlement and other case management obligations Pleadings, motions, summons, orders, affidavits, interlocutory applications, subpoenas and other court documents drafted and filed with the court All court documentation and correspondence in litigation files managed and maintained and regular and accurate updating of litigation files ensured. Collaboration with management to devise efficient defence strategies Legal and non-legal research to establish TLTB’s position performed and formulation of strategy in the conduct of litigation Case deadlines monitored and work with Legal Officer and Litigation Assistant to ensure court filing deadlines are entered and met Correspond and communicate with courts, tenants, witnesses, opposing counsel regarding hearings, trials and various meetings Prepare, negotiate and finalise settlement of litigation, where appropriate in consultation with the Manager Legal Prepare opinions / briefs for cases in carriage and litigated, when requested. Regularly monitor litigation matters in carriage and promptly advise management on any significant impact to TLTB that may arise at any stage of the litigation process Keep current with changes in court rules and filing procedures Legal Officer and Litigation Assistant supervised in the collection of lease rental arrears Specialist legal and procedural advice provided to ensure that TLTB acts within its statutory and regulatory obligations
Minimum Qualifications / Experience	Degree in Law with a valid practicing certificate. 8 years’ experience in the practice of Law in Fiji or similar jurisdiction
Compensation:	Grade 8 of the TLTB salary scale on 3 years contract
