The Fiji Hardwood Corporation (FHCL) has made a historic advance payment of $879,739.69! This payment, handed over by FHCL Chairman Mr. lowane Naiveli to the Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Hon. Ifereimi Vasu, marks a significant milestone for 230 mataqali whose land is leased under FHCL and for all mataqali whose land was harvested with mahogany in 2023.
Hon. Vasu graciously accepted the cheque on behalf of the 230 landowning units and expressed his gratitude, saying, “It is indeed an honor for me to receive this cheque. Our vision is to uplift the lives of our people, expanding the role of the Ministry from an administration role to an organization that is driving the economic development of the iTaukei.”
This incredible gesture from FHCL not only benefits the individual LOU members directly but also aligns with a broader vision for the economic development of the iTaukei.
