MISAELE TOUTOU EXPANDS HIS TRANSPORT BUSINESS IN THE HIGHLANDS
February 23, 2026The iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) CEO Mr. Solomone Nata, convened a meeting at Dakuinuku, Sawakasa, Tailevu; following formal communication from the landowners of Mataqali Sauniveikau, who requested surrender of buffer area to access to their back land through the catchment lease.
Mr Nata said the lease with Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) as tenant, originally issued for 99 years from 2009 for the Namau Water Catchment, also covered the land belonging to the Mataqali Sauniveikau of 237 hectares.
A week ago, following negotiations between TLTB and WAF, to convey it was confirmed that a partial surrender of the lease has been approved of all the Mataqali land. In addition, WAF has also agreed for mataqali to access through the remaining catchment area under the lease to their land.
Turaga ni Mataqali, Mr. Epeli Duvaga, expressed gratitude for the transparency of the process and acknowledged the collaborative efforts between TLTB and WAF. He highlighted the importance of continued guidance from TLTB in identifying sustainable and beneficial land development opportunities.
Mr. Nata encouraged the landowners to explore sustainable land use and consider applying for Taukei Development Fund Facility (TDFF) loans to maximize the potential of their land and maximizing its value for future generations.
