September 25, 2024TLTB Head Office Staff Engage in CSR Activity at Nakalawaca Village, Namara, Tailevu
October 8, 2024Tavua, September 28th, 2024:
The iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) Northwest Region successfully completed its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity for the third quarter of 2024 at Nadelei Village, Tavua. This collaborative effort brought together key stakeholders, including the Department of Forestry and the landowning unit of Nadelei Village, Mataqali Bekasaisai, Tikina Savatu, and Yavusa o Belaga. Together with the Turaga ni Mataqali and several landowning unit members, our team successfully planted 500 pine tree seedlings.
CEO Mr Solomone Nata highlighted that the objectives were to reconnect with landowners, restore degraded lands, improve ecosystem health by enhancing soil quality and preventing erosion, and contribute to carbon sequestration efforts—helping combat climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
This tree planting initiative aligns with the Fijian Government’s ambitious goal to plant 30 million trees over the next 15 years, contributing to the national campaign to restore and restock degraded lands and forests. By boosting biodiversity and ecosystem services, we aim to foster both environmental sustainability and socio-economic development.
The Department of Forestry supported the project by providing the 500 pine seedlings, further reinforcing our shared commitment to environmental stewardship. This effort is also in line with TLTB’s Strategic Corporate Plan 2024-2026.
This initiative reflects our dedication to sustainable practices and highlights the importance of community collaboration in tackling environmental challenges while providing future economic opportunities for landowners.
