LANDOWNERS WORKSHOP FOR MSME DEVELOPMENT IN CAKAUDROVE
July 6, 2026Today, the ITaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) presented the Suva Market Inspiring Women Cooperative (SMIWC) with a loan of $85,002.90 under the Taukei Development Fund Facility (TDFF). This support will enable the Cooperative- made up of 21 iTaukei women Vendors- to build their new bakery and restaurant facilities beside the Suva Municipal Market.
In his remarks, CEO Mr. Solomone Nata encouraged the women to seize this opportunity and manage their ventures with discipline, not only for their own benefit but also for their families and the wider economy. He reaffirmed that the TDFF was established to empower iTaukei women and landowners to start businesses, strengthen livelihoods, and contribute to nation building.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the bakery and restaurant has already been completed, officiated by Hon. Minister for Housing & Local Government Mr. Maciu Nalumisa, with support from UNDP Pacific and the Department of Cooperatives. Construction is now the next step, turning this vision into reality.
For TLTB, today’s presentation is more than financial assistance. It reflects our commitment to empowering iTaukei women and landowners, ensuring that land and resources are used to uplift communities, create sustainable income, and build a stronger Fiji.
