TLTB ACHIEVES ISO 9001:2015 CERTIFICATION
September 24, 2026The iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) GM Landowners Empowerment Mr Peni Qalo and Manager Landowners Empowerment Mr George Waqasaqa visited the Fiji Pine Trust recently to touch base on issues affecting the landowners and discuss areas to improve upon.
A key focus of the meeting was the new initiatives being championed by TLTB to increase mataqali participation in new LOU Pine Plantation developments.
Mr Qalo said that these initiatives are designed to unlock the economic potential of customary land, enhance landowner participation in the pine sector, and create long-term benefits for future generations.
He said said they have also reviewed the Board’s target of establishing 5,000 acres of new pine plantations.
“To date, 3,000 acres have been successfully secured, with a further 2,000 acres targeted for expansion of the plantation. Achieving this target will require strong collaboration between TLTB, Fiji Pine Trust, and participating landowning units,” he said.
The Fiji Pine Trust led by Executive Chairman Mr. Semi Degei reflected on the need for strong and growing partnership between the two organizations and their shared commitment to advancing the interests of landowners through sustainable pine plantation development.
Under the proposed partnership framework, TLTB will support the facilitation and establishment of targeted new pine leases, while Fiji Pine Trust will provide technical expertise and operational support for plantation establishment and development.
An important highlight of the meeting was Fiji Pine Trust’s new Five-Year Strategic Plan 2026-2031, which places landowners at the centre of all development initiatives.
The meeting achieved its desired outcomes by reinforcing strategic partnerships and paving the way for greater economic opportunities for Fiji’s pine landowners and mataqali communities.
