NADI & NADROGA LANDOWNERS EXPLORE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES
May 8, 2026The iTaukei Land Trust Board (“TLTB”) and the Tertiary Scholarships & Loans Service (“TSLS”) signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) this morning to strengthen collaboration in advancing higher education opportunities aimed at iTaukei students.
The MOU was signed by TLTB Chief Executive Officer Mr Solomone Nata and TSLS Chief Executive Officer Dr Apisalome Movono.
Mr. Nata highlighted that earlier this year, TLTB introduced the TLTB Education Scholarship, awarding 17 scholarships to support iTaukei education. He noted that education is a shared purpose of both institutions, and that the MOU provides a platform to nurture cooperation in a collaborative approach to advancing quality education, especially for the iTaukei.
“Some iTaukei students who applied for the TSLS Scholarship but were unsuccessful have successfully secured support through TLTB. Today’s MOU ensures that both organisations can align their efforts to maximise opportunities for our indigenous young people,” said Mr Nata.
Dr Movono expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting TSLS’s dedication to serving the nation’s needs and its ongoing commitment to strengthening relationships among all stakeholders, including TLTB. This MoU aims to pinpoint specific national development needs and to offer opportunities for upskilling, research, education, and training tailored to the nation’s sustainable development.
“This initiative is consistent with what TLTB is doing through the Taukei Wealth Fund and the TLTB Education Scholarship. Together, we are building pathways that empower all Fijians, in particular, iTaukei students to pursue higher education and contribute meaningfully to their country and to their people,” said Dr Movono.
