TLTB CLARIFIES REDD+ LEASE CONDITIONS & 5% CARBON BENEFIT SHARING
June 18, 2026From the heart of Sawakasa village in Tailevu, Ratu Pio Loco of Mataqali Nadereivalu, Yavusa Nadereivalu, is turning vision into reality through the Taukei Development Fund Facility (TDFF).
Recognising the growing need for safe and reliable student transportation, Mr. Loco has successfully secured funding support to expand his transport business with the acquisition of a 14-seater minivan from Asco Motors, valued at $88,934.72.
While presenting the key to Mr. Loco, Minister for iTaukei Affairs and TLTB Chairman, Hon. Ifereimi Vasu stated that this new initiative is expected to unlock opportunities in the Tailevu North area, particularly as an iTaukei-led transportation business serving the area.
Operating under valid Land Transport Authority (LTA) permits, his licensed minibus service along the Korovou to Queen Victoria School (QVS) route is expected to make a difference—providing dependable daily transport for students attending Ratu Filimoni Loco Memorial School, Lodoni Primary School, and Tailevu North College.
This initiative is not just a business—it is a service to the community. It ensures that students can travel safely and consistently to school, supporting their education and future success.
Mr Loco hopes that this initiative will also encouraged other LOU’s and individuals to lease their land and start their own business.
With an established fleet already generating income and the stability of his employment with the Ministry of Education, Mr. Loco’s venture demonstrates both sustainability and strong financial responsibility. The business is further secured by valuable assets, including a commercial lease and the vehicle itself, reinforcing confidence in its long-term success.
Through TDFF support, Mr. Loco is not only growing his livelihood but also strengthening connectivity, enhancing access to education, and contributing meaningfully to development in Tailevu.
This is what empowering landowners looks like—turning opportunities into real impact for communities.
