The Nakovacake Development Trust (NDT), the administrative arm of the Yavusa e Tolu comprising the Yavusa Tukani, Yavusa Noinaiqoro, and Yavusa Botiluvuka of Namotomoto and Navoci villages in Nadi, has expressed its sincere appreciation to the iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) for its strategic direction aimed at empowering the iTaukei people through business development, investment, and entrepreneurship.
CEO Mr. Solomone Nata formally handed over a letter confirming the transfer of ownership of two properties in Nadi Town:
• the Joy Mesuria Building, a property for which compensation of $185,000 was fully settled in 2025.
• the Morarji Kalidas Town Centre (adjacent to the Westpac Building), which has also been reverted to NDT following the expiry of its lease in December 2024.
In addition to the two buildings, TLTB has successfully facilitated the return and compensation of other valuable commercial properties to the NDT through their commercial entity, Vanua Nakovacake Holdings Pte Limited (VNHPL) including the current FDB Building in Nadi Town.
Mr Nata said that the handover marks another milestone in TLTB’s ongoing efforts to return expired iTaukei lease assets in major urban centres to their rightful landowning units, enabling them to participate actively in commercial enterprise and wealth creation.
He also emphasized the importance of strong partnerships, sound governance, and responsible asset management in driving sustainable economic growth and improving the well-being of LOU members.
TLTB remains committed to working closely with landowners throughout Fiji to unlock the economic potential of iTaukei land, foster entrepreneurship, and create meaningful opportunities for investment, business development, and long-term prosperity.
