The iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) was proud to participate in the International Youth Day 2026 celebrations, held alongside the Navosa Youth and Sports Festival and the Government and Corporate Roadshow at Vatureba Park, Keiyasi, Navosa.
The event brought together more than 500 young people, community members, government agencies, development partners, and stakeholders, providing a valuable platform to promote youth development, skills training, entrepreneurship, and community engagement.
Officially opening the celebrations, Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Jese Saukuru, acknowledged the significant contribution of young Fijians in shaping the nation’s future through leadership, innovation, sports, culture, entrepreneurship, and community service.
“Our young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow. They are leaders and contributors today,” Hon. Saukuru said.
As an organization committed to the sustainable development and empowerment of iTaukei landowners, TLTB welcomed the opportunity to engage directly with young people and share information on land-based opportunities, education, entrepreneurship, and economic participation.
A key highlight of the event was the graduation of 42 youths from Navosa who successfully completed training in tie-dye production and soap-making. These practical skills can help participants explore small business ventures and create additional income-generating opportunities within their communities.
TLTB joined a number of government agencies and partner organizations, including the iTaukei Trust Fund Board (TTFB), National Training Productivity Centre (NTPC), and the Ministry of Agriculture, in promoting skills development, career pathways, and innovative business opportunities such as beekeeping, poultry farming, and baking.
Through its participation, TLTB reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national initiatives that empower young people, strengthen communities, and create pathways for future economic growth and prosperity for iTaukei landowners and their families.
