The iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) continues to strengthen its commitment to empowering landowners through meaningful engagement and development-focused partnerships.
Recently, TLTB’s General Manager Landowner Empowerment Mr Peni Qalo, together with representatives from the Tailevu Provincial Office, Landowner Empowerment Officer Mr. Amani Radrodro, and the TLTB Team at Korovou, conducted a consultation with village elders and landowners of the tikina of Dawasamu.
The meeting was attended by the Turaga Ratu of Dawasamu, Turaga ni Koro, and representatives from villages across the Tikina, demonstrating the strong commitment of the Vanua towards sustainable development and future opportunities for landowners.
During the consultation, the Mr Qalo outlined TLTB’s new strategic direction, which places greater emphasis on landowner development, economic empowerment, and creating sustainable opportunities for landowning units through the productive use of iTaukei land.
The session also provided updates on TLTB’s ongoing engagement with landowners, Government, and key stakeholders as the Board expands its role beyond land administration to become a catalyst for landowner prosperity and long-term wealth creation.
A key outcome of the consultation was the agreement for further discussions at the village level. These follow-up engagements will enable TLTB’s Landowner Empowerment Team to work directly with individual landowning units through the Landowning Unit (LOU) Planning Process, identifying development opportunities, addressing local challenges, and developing practical solutions that align with each community’s aspirations.
