International Treaties & Conventions

Below are some of the International Conventions and treaties which have been ratified and signed by the Government of Fiji through various Ministries. TLTB in its statutory role is also responsible for fulfilling a range of functions under the iTaukei Land Trust Act (s.140), thus recognises these treaties which is espoused in its Strategic Corporate  Plan outcomes and implemented through various policies and the projects undertaken.


  • Agreement on Trade-Related Investment Measures (TRIMs)
  • Asian Development Bank (ADB)
  • Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)
  • Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to the Convention on Biological Diversity
  • Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES)
  • United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in Those Countries Experiencing Serious Drought and/or Desertification, (UNCCD)
  • The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
  • The Convention concerning Discrimination in Respect of Employment and Occupation or Discrimination (Employment and Occupation) Convention (ILO Convention No.111)
  • The Indigenous and Tribal Peoples Convention, 1989
  • The Kyoto Protocol
