July 13, 2026The Prime Minister, Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka, yesterday officiated at the official opening of the newly refurbished District Officer’s Office and the -new iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) Service Centre in Nadarivatu.
Nadarivatu holds a special place in Fiji’s administrative history, being one of the earliest and most prominent government stations during the leadership era of the late Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna. The reopening of this office marks a significant step in revitalizing government presence in the highlands which also coincide with the commemoration of the World’s Rural Development celebration.
In his remarks, Hon. Rabuka commended the TLTB leadership team for their foresight and commitment to serving the people of Colo North. He specifically acknowledged the vanua of Nubu, Nadrau, Nabobuco, and Navatusila, emphasizing that the new service centre reflects TLTB’s vision of bringing services closer to landowners in remote communities.
The new office will officially begin operations today, Friday, 10th May 2026, at 8:15 a.m. It will initially operate for one week, during which time community needs will be assessed. Based on this assessment, further announcements regarding their operations will be made.
The new office will serve the district of Savatu, covering the villages of Lewa, Naiyaca, Nagatagata, Buyabuya, Marou, Koro and Nadala. It will also serve the district of Nadrau, which includes the villages of Nabouwaqa, Nagatagata, Koro, Vatutokotoko, Vanualevu and Drala, as well as Nakito and Lutu settlements.
CEO Mr. Solomone Nata said that the establishment of the Nadarivatu office is part of TLTB’s broader expansion strategy. The aim is to ensure accessibility for landowners in remote and hard-to-reach areas, including the highlands and outer islands, where access to TLTB services has traditionally been challenging.
Saunivalu Toutou of Yavusa Cawanisa said the event was historic, as it brought one of the most important services closer to the people and is expected to open up development opportunities in the interior.
